Melbourne Lactation
Shterna Glick | Registered Midwife, Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
About Me
Hi! I’m Shterna, Midwife and Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). I’m a Mum of five, the youngest of whom are twins. I work as a Registered Midwife in the public hospital system and also work privately as an LC. I love all things midwifery and breastfeeding, and love getting to know women and their families. No two feeding journeys are the same and I am always learning something new from everyone!
My Approach

My passion is really around helping new mothers understand, enjoy and feel confident during the newborn period, and achieve their feeding goals whatever they may be. My super passion is education; I love helping women understand the breastfeeding process and building awareness around normal feeding behaviours and when to seek help. I want women to be brave and trust their instincts and feel confident in how they feed their baby. I strive to normalise breastfeeding challenges and let women know they are not alone and that with the right support and guidance you can work through just about anything!
This is where the Midwife and Lactation Consultant in me collide! Usually purchased around week 37 of pregnancy, this class prepares you for the early days, including in-depth breastfeeding information and pretty much everything you need to know about normal newborn behaviours. You will feel empowered and knowledgeable going in to your birth and will also receive a PDF summary of the content so you can refer to the information as you need it! This class runs for just over an hour and is an online video course.

Postnatal
Home Visits
I offer a postnatal home visiting service in Melbourne where I attend your home to observe a feed, weigh the baby and explore your feeding challenges with you. We work together to understand the issue and make a realistic plan moving forward. I love visiting women in their home environment and reassuring families around normal breastfeeding behaviours.

Digital Appointments
Phone or video consults are a great way to receive support when in-person visits are not possible due to location. Some specific feeding problems require a face-to-face consult but many issues can be tackled over phone or video!
